Sachpreetraj specializes in commercial litigation and construction law, bringing extensive experience in both litigious and non-litigious matters. His practice encompasses a wide range of clients, including developers, multinational corporations, government-linked companies, consortiums, and contractors. Sachpreetraj has successfully represented these clients through various stages of litigation, including appeals up to the Federal Court as well as arbitration and adjudication proceedings.

In non-litigious matters, Sachpreetraj provides expert legal advice on diverse commercial construction-related issues and is skilled in drafting and reviewing construction-consultancy contracts. In other areas, Sachpreetraj has represented the aboriginal people of Malaysia towards the recovery of their native customary land as well various environmental & animal rights related suits. 

Before founding Raj & Sach Advocates Solicitors, Sachpreetraj honed his expertise in the Construction and Commercial Dispute Department at Azman Davidson & Co, where he practiced for three years. Additionally, he has a background in academia, having lectured in Law for the Cambridge A-Levels and tutored for the University of London LL.B. program prior to the establishment of his practice.

Experience

  • Instituted actions for the recovery of land sold in contravention of the National Land Code
  • Successfully instituted civil suit for Malaysian companies to claim for payment for services provided but not paid for.
  • Involved in an arbitration claim between a construction company and a university regarding disputes over the construction of two research and development buildings.
  • Participated in an international ICC arbitration claim involving an international steel fabricator and an Australian agent over a sales agency agreement dispute.
  • Involved in a civil suit arising from a dispute between a multinational company and a Malaysian building management company.
  • Successfully defended an arbitral award in the Court of Appeal concerning a contractual dispute involving one of the longest stormwater tunnels in Southeast Asia.
  • Successfully set aside an arbitral award in the High Court in a dispute between two Malaysian-based international construction companies over a luxury condominium project in Kuala Lumpur.
  • Drafted various consultancy agreements for a Malaysian electric utility company.
  • Involved in an adjudication related to the construction and development of facilities in Malaysia for a Malaysia-based multinational plantation conglomerate.
  • Successfully instituted an adjudication for a dispute between an Indian railways systems contractor and a Malaysian-based electronics contractor.
  • Successfully set aside actions instituted in the High Court of Kuala Lumpur for referral to arbitration.
  • Defended against an arbitration claim brought by a major construction company concerning the construction of high-end condominiums.
  • Handled various CIPAA claims, including a claim against a construction company for the non-payment of materials supplied and delivered.
  • Handled a variety of commercial and construction disputes involving multinational companies, individuals, firms for a wide range of disputes involving everything from breaches of contract to tortious disputes involving commercial fraud.
